Hong Kong Island – Shek O Beach (Big Wave Bay)
If you want a day out at the beach on Hong Kong island, this is the place to head for. This beach is popular beach with expats as it has clean sand, restaurants and a relaxed atmosphere. However for those of you who don’t want to laze on the beach all day there is windsurfing and a great hiking spot.
Where: The south eastern shore of Hong Kong Island.
Hong Kong Island – Stanley Beach (Repulse Bay)
One of the easiest beaches to get to from downtown Hong Kong, so it is very popular with day trippers who also visit Stanley Market. Stanley beach has a lovely sandy beach with bbq pits, changing facilities and netted areas for safe swimming. There are also many bars and restaurants close by.
Where: Southern shore of Hong Kong Island, Repulse Bay, eastern edge of Stanley.
New Territories – Clearwater Bay
Made up of 2 beaches, Clearwater Bay first beach and Clearwater Bay second beach. A stunning location with great views of the nearby country park’s mountains and the tip of the famous High Junk Peak.
Where: New territories, Sai Kung, eastern shore of Clear Water Bay Peninsula.
Cheung Chau Island – Kwun Yam Beach
Cheung Chau’s popular windsurfing beach is where Olympic gold medal winner and windsurfing champion Lee Lai-shan trained and home to Cheung Chau Windsurfing Centre. With a fine white beach, a beachside cafe, windsurfing, surfing and kayaking/canoeing equipment available to rent, Kwun Yam has plenty to keep you occupied if you’re looking to do more than just lie in the sun.
Where: East coast of Cheung Chau Island.
Lantau Island – Cheung Sha Beach
A secluded stretch of soft white sand awaits you on one of our favourite beaches on Lantau. You are never fighting for space with other beach goers, even on weekends and there are many beachside restaurants.
