When will be receiving our booking confirmation?

Once we have received your booking form and deposit we will send your confirmation documents.

Will I know which hotels I will be staying in before I go?

The hotels associated with your itinerary are online but we will provide the final details with your final documents. However, these may still possible a last minute alterations.

Do you allow children on your tours?

We allow children 12 years and over on our group tours.

Families with children of any age can take advantage of our private tours. This will give you more flexibility while on tour.

What language is spoken in China?

The official language in China is Mandarin. In addition, there are a total of 296 languages spoken in mainland China, including some that have no monolingual speakers.

Do I have to be super-fit to complete our Tours itinerary?

Our ‘classic’ tours are accessible to most people with an average level of fitness and normal
ability. However, some tours will required a higher level of fitness and can be physically more demanding, such as visit remote areas; places in high altitude and facilities may be rather basic. All of our tours involve walking and the climbing of steps. Please refer to your tour itinerary for more information.

Will I be given the option to share with another tour member of same gender rather than to pay single supplement?

On our group tours, if you are willing to share with a tour member of the same gender, you will not pay a single supplement. You will be required to share on overnight rail journeys and cruises; however this may not necessarily be with a United Travel Tours passenger. You will be introduced to your share partner on arrival.

Will I be travelling with passengers from other countries?

Our passengers generally enjoy the mixture clients on tour. Occasionally we are joined by English speaking passengers from other countries.

What is the dress code on your tours?

The dress code while on tour is very relaxed; however please note that clothing covering the arms and legs may be more appropriate when visiting religious buildings. We suggest smart casual attire for the evenings.

What is the maximum luggage allowance on your tours?

20kg per person, as this is normally the maximum allowance on internal flights.

Is tipping compulsory?

Tipping is a way of life. We therefore like to honour tradition and offer tokens of our appreciation while on tour. For your convenience, on group tours these will be collected by your National Escort on arrival and the compulsory amounts are stated on each tour page. On private tours, tipping is discretionary, however, we will advise approximate amounts.

What will we eat on tour?

You will sample a range of local cuisine with the occasional western meals. Meals (excluding drinks) are included as stated in our itinerary of Group Tours. Breakfast is a combination of local and western food, usually served buffet style. Lunches and dinners consist of traditional local cuisine, with a wide range of dishes to choose from. Meals on our group tours usually start with lunch on the normal day of arrival and finish with lunch on the normal day of departure. Our Private Tours include several free evenings, offering flexibility for those who wish to explore the local restaurants.

Do you cater for special dietary requirements whilst on tour?

Please let us know at the time of booking and we will try to cater for most dietary requirements, but may not be possible all the times.
