Before You GO

PASSPORTS

All British nationals require a full passport for all holidays with United Travel and this should be valid for at least six months after the date of your scheduled return home. If you are not a British national, other regulations may apply to you.

VISA REQUIREMENTS

British passport holder will required to have a visa to enter China. We can handle the application of the visa for you and sort out entire visa process, once you have booked, all you need to do is fill out the form and send your passport to us. We are always on hand to help you with any questions or queries you might have when completing the form.

To enable us to process your visa, we will need your passport and visa application forms 8 weeks before your departure. We would normally expect to have to keep your passport for a maximum of 4 weeks to allow for the visas application process. If you need your passport back earlier, then please let us know, and we can arrange an ‘express’ visa service at an additional charge. Chinese visa application

Please note: The Chinese Embassy or the Consulate General has the right to request the applicant to provide additional supporting documents or to come to the Embassy or the Consulate General for an interview. In the event you are asked to attend an interview, we will notify you immediately with the times and the dates.

TRAVEL HEALTH

United Travel does not give specific health advice, but we do recommend you see your GP at least six weeks prior to travel for advice and to allow time for any necessary vaccinations.

WATER

We strongly recommend you do not drink the tap water, and avoid ice in your drinks. Safe, bottled drinking water is readily available for sale everywhere – from small shops, supermarkets, restaurants, and hotels. It is not customary for hotels to provide complimentary bottled drinking water. Always ensure that the seal is unbroken.

YOUR OWN FIRST AID

We recommend you carry a small first aid kit for your personal use.
The following list is intended as a guide only:

  • Plasters
  • Simple pain killers e.g. paracetamol or ibuprofen
  • Antiseptic cream
  • Antihistamine cream (for insect bites)
  • Sun cream
  • Anti-diarrhoea pills e.g. Imodium
  • Rehydration salts e.g. Dioralyte
  • Insect repellent
  • Cold medicine

Please ensure you carry any essential personal medication in your hand luggage rather than checked in bags.

FLIGHT INFORMATION

We recognise how important your flight is as part of your United Travel Tours experience, which is why we only work with scheduled airlines with the best reputations for service, reliability and punctuality. We use reputable domestic airlines for internal routes and although all of our prices are based on flights from London Heathrow, there are many regional departures available from across the UK.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

It is an essential condition of joining a United Travel holiday that you have a valid travel insurance policy to cover the cost of any emergency medical treatment. You are strongly advised to take out your policy at the time of booking to protect your holiday payments in the event of cancellation. Please inform our office of your relevant policy number and keep details of the policy in your travel documents including policy number, 24 hour emergency number and next of kin details. We can also help you organise your holiday insurance.

BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE

It is an essential condition of joining a United Travel holiday that you have a valid travel insurance policy to cover the cost of any emergency medical treatment. You are strongly. The standard check-in baggage allowance for all airlines is limited to one piece and must not exceed 20 kg, unless otherwise explicitly stated. Hand luggage is limited to one piece and must not exceed 5kg.
